Saint Louis Blues - Start Reading Here
Gay Days and Nights in the 1970s, Mostly Saint Louis, Mostly Fiction
Ah, the 1970s! What a time to be young and gay. After Stonewall, before AIDS. It was, as the English poet Philip Larkin said in a slightly different context, “…paradise/Everyone old has dreamed of all their lives…” Everyone old and gay, anyway. And though maybe not quite paradise, certainly a thrilling time of discovery, experimentation, (yes, maybe even some drugs), and growing up. Here is an index linking to my Substack pieces (mostly fiction) looking back at those times. I hope you enjoy looking back with me. BE WARNED: Some of these might not be for everyone. (PS There are some related non-fiction pieces in my section of memoirs, Scenes of a Life I think Was Mine, and some general musings on gay topics in the section titled The Gay Thing.)
