In short there’s simply not A more congenial spot For happy window wandering Than … PARIS!
One of the delights of being in Paris is walking, walking everywhere. We never gain any weight on our visits to the City of Light (and delicious food), even with all the butter and cream and patisserie that accompany our bistro meals, because of all that walking, before and after.
And one of the joys of walking in Paris is looking in windows – or, sometimes, out of them. Not as a peeping Tom – I should be clear – but as a flâneur out on the town in the best of all possible towns for flâneuring.
I’ve been rather down lately. I don’t know why (This is irony!?!). I have the feeling that some of you may be down as well. It made me feel a little better for a little while to look at some of these Paris windows again. Maybe it will make you feel better too, for a while at least.
And so I’m starting a series, titled PARIS WINDOWS (what a surprise), sharing a Paris window-a-day that I’ve looked into (and sometimes, out of) over the years. I’ll be sending them for as long as I have windows to share and you have patience to glance at them. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Please let me know if you do. And also let me know when it’s time to stop.
PS: If you’ve enjoyed these Paris windows, you might also get some diversion looking back at my first trip to Paris, now more then 50 years ago. Both of us have changed a bit since then.
I love the Paris window a day series idea as I'm feeling a bit down myself and I know why. Keep them coming!
Learned a new word! Looking forward to our visit to Paris in May, thanks for a wonderful preview
